🪵 Base Prep

Lightly sand edges and surface for smoothness.

Optional: Apply clear sealer or white primer for crisp paint lines or metallics.

Scrapbook Paper Option: Instead of painting the background, cut a square of patterned scrapbook paper and adhere it to the base with Mod Podge and an iron.

Optional: Seal with a clear coat for protection, though it isn’t usually necessary.

🖌️ Techniques

Dry Brush: Adds rustic, weathered texture.

Layered Wash: Soft, blended color for atmospheric backgrounds.

Metallic Accents: Great for edges or subtle highlights around the silhouettes.

🧼 Finishing Touches

Seal with matte or satin clear coat. Optional: Add glitter, rhinestones, or ribbon for a dramatic Halloween finish.

To bring your sign to life, gather the following essentials:

• Paint — acrylics work best

• Brushes or small makeup sponges for smooth, even coverage

• Paint markers — perfect for crisp lettering and fine details

• Glue to attach wood layers

  • Great options: gel‑type super glue from the Dollar Store, E6000, Stick Fast, or Gorilla Glue

• Optional embellishments — ribbons, buttons, glitter, or anything your heart desires

• Optional finishing touch — clear coat spray for durability or antique wax for a rustic look
